Balboa Park Engagement Photo Shoot

Balboa Park, a beloved San Diego institution, is one of the nation’s oldest public parks. We love photographing engagement shoots there because everything is within walking distance. This means we are able to accomplish more pictures and greater variety within a shorter time period. We’ve been photographing in Balboa Park for years and know every nook and cranny that it has to offer. A Balboa Park engagement photo shoot always results in a nice mix of timeless shots and fun images.

Many of us are long time (or lifelong) San Diegans, and nothing says San Diego quite like Balboa Park. Some of our favorite landmarks to incorporate into engagement photo shoots are the stately Museum of Man entrance, the tranquil koi pond, and the classic organ pavilion. There is natural beauty all around too, with many diverse locations in walking distance. We even have our own secret spots to photograph :) For all of these reasons, Balboa Park is an ideal outdoor photo shoot location.

Balboa Park Engagement Shoot | Lauren and Ryan (and Charlie the Puppy)

Lauren and Ryan met while hard at work at a local biotechnology company. During one of the monthly all-company lunches, Lauren overheard Ryan talking about his brand new Vizsla puppy. Lauren, a fan of the little-known breed, immediately turned around and asked for details. Ryan, of course, was eager to share. A few weeks later, Lauren received a picture of “Charlie” in her inbox. The rest was history!

Both San Diego natives, Lauren and Ryan both grew up visiting Balboa Park as children. They each remember trying to catch “the ring” from the carousel, and were captivated by the overall beauty of the park. They decided to have their engagement shoot at the iconic San Diego landmark, and fondly chose the carousel as their starting destination. During the shoot, we made our way through many of the park’s picturesque locations (archways, flower fields, grassy lawns), for a variety of different moods and backgrounds.

When taking photos with Charlie, Charlie ended up giving Lauren a HUGE wet kiss – oops! Looks like he approves :) Enjoy the highlights below.

A Wedding at a Private Residence in Point Loma with EverAfter Events

It can be a wonderful experience creating your own wedding – and an even better experience when you have help! At EverAfter Events, we work together with our brides and grooms to coordinate all the details, and celebrate the unique personalities of each couple.

Recently, we had the opportunity to work with Patrick and Sherry. They are an amazingly sweet couple who both just started their residencies here in town! Together with the couple, we planned the perfect wedding at Patrick’s parent’s home in Point Loma. The gorgeous antique-style decor was a perfect complement to the refined couple, and the elegant atmosphere of the day.

The ceremony space was set up in the backyard of the home, overlooking all of downtown San Diego. It was a breathtaking landscape for an intimate ceremony.

Sherry’s bridesmaids wore purple dresses that fell just below the knee, which were beautifully accented by purple and pink florals.

To change up the scenery, the couple chose to go to Balboa Park for some more bridal party and personal photos.

Dinner was held in the quaint roundabout in the front courtyard, which was surrounded by lovely florals and lush greens.

Gold tones were carried throughout the wedding. Gold chargers accented each place setting, as well as and personal menu cards that featured the couple’s elegant monogram. Each table was named after one of Sherry and Patrick’s favorite restaurants. What a fabulous event it was!
