A Photographer’s Tropical Destination Wedding | Natalie and Dustin

By, January 11, 2016

We were thrilled when Dustin, one of our own star photographers, decided to tie the knot with his beautiful bride Natalie. Lucky for us, this fun and laid back couple chose to have their wedding in Mexico, just outside of Puerto Vallarta. The event was held at the luxurious Exclusive Resorts of Punta Mita, a tropical resort with immaculate private villas, sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and even a private beach! It was the perfect setting for this intimate wedding.

Since Dustin is a lead shooter with True Photography, it’s no surprise that the property was a “true” photographer’s playground. This wedding was bursting with color, which came out brilliantly in their photographs.

The moment we laid eyes on the infinity pool, we knew we HAD to use it for some reflective photos. Luckily, the bride Natalie was a willing participant. Just as a nice breeze came in, she balanced along the edge of the pool, which resulted in the striking image above.Wedding couple having an intimate kiss in a hammock at their Destination Wedding in Mexico.

When photographing details, we love to bring in elements of the surroundings, in order to tell a story. In the photo above, we photographed Natalie’s glitzy heels in front of the pool that accompanied the couple’s private villa, where they spent a lot of down time.

Before she got ready, Natalie took a moment to collect her thoughts and write down her vows. To capture this special candid moment at a distance, we quietly photographed through a chair :)
The colors throughout the property tied in perfectly with the wedding color scheme. We took full advantage!

To add to the tropical feel of this wedding, we used the reflections in the windows to show the natural surroundings.
The ceremony was held under a massive tree, just steps away from the crystal blue water. The couple was joined by their proud family for vow exchanges.0012 0013 0014 0015 Black and white photo of couple kissing while their guests are cheering in the background. To achieve the photo above, we ran in front of Natalie and Dustin with a cell-phone flashlight, the camera on a tripod, and a shutter speed of 8 seconds. Our penmanship practice came in handy ;)

Bahamas Destination Wedding | Royal Caribbean Cruise Line | Beatrice and Charles

By, February 07, 2013

Last month, we traveled out to Miami to join Beatrice and Charles as they tied the knot. The wedding was held on a three-day Royal Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas! By choosing a destination wedding, the couple was able to spend quality time with about 40 of their closest friends and family.

After the first night of sailing, the bride, groom and their guests enjoyed the day relaxing. Everyone enjoyed a leisurely day on the white sandy beaches of CocoCay, an exclusive island in the Bahamas. Early the next morning, the group arrived at the second port of call, Nassau Island, where the wedding ceremony was held. Following the ceremony, at the Balmoral Club, the group kicked off their shoes for a reception at the clubhouse. To cap things off, there was a lively after-party back onboard the ship, Majesty of the Seas.

This wedding party was made up of truly some of the warmest, most positive and fun people we’ve been around. Good energy always leads to great photos!

The Bahamas gave us so many unique backdrops to photograph against, including this retro green bathroom at the Balmoral Club. These guys made anything look cool, though.

After arriving at the beautiful Balmoral Club in Nassau, the ladies prepped for the ceremony. Beatrice wore a blusher-style birdcage veil, which paired perfectly with her vintage inspired gown and lace illusion neckline.

The ceremony was held on the lushly landscaped lawn at the Balmoral Club, underneath towering coconut palms.

Unbeknownst to Beatrice and Charles, their wedding coordinator had asked a group of Bahamian dancers to greet the bride and groom as the ceremony commenced. The dancers had been taking part in a nearby festival, and their presence was a complete surprise to all. All of their guests cheered as they watched the impromptu entertainment, which they thought had been arranged by the bride and groom. But Beatrice and Charles were just as astonished as everyone else. How cool is that!?

Following the ceremony, and before heading over to the clubhouse to celebrate, we photographed the the newlyweds, the wedding party, and the whole group.

Back at the clubhouse, wedding guests greeted the couple with loud cheers, which kicked off the evening of celebration. Everyone enjoyed cocktails and plentiful hors d’oeuvres. As the evening progressed, there were emotional moments, a messy cake cutting, and tons of dancing!

We couldn’t let Beatrice and Charles go home without a photo sitting on a crooked palm tree, which is pretty much synonomous with lounging on a tropical island!

Following the clubhouse reception, guests were transported back to the dock to set sail once again!

Back on board, the couple and their guests changed into black tie attire for an evening of celebration. The group enjoyed a nice dinner together, and then headed to the after-party at an on-site lounge. At the lounge, the wedding party provided the entertainment with many rounds of karaoke!

The cruise ship allowed for so many unique photo opportunities. We had such a blast being a part of the celebration, and we can truly say that we felt like family. Beatrice and Charles are such a stylish couple, and the entire group was awesome to photograph. Cheers to the newlyweds!
