Classic Balboa Park Wedding | Teresa and Thomas

By, January 14, 2016

Teresa and Thomas were married at Teresa’s home parish, the beautiful St. Therese Church in Carmel Valley. The church was literally down the street from Teresa’s “getting ready” location: the house she grew up in. The reception took place in the heart of Balboa Park, at The Prado, which features Spanish-Colonial charm and unique architecture. As you can imagine, there were many breathtaking photo locales. We hope you enjoy a selection of our favorite images from their special day!

Teresa and Thomas went off the beaten path for this epic photo, above. To help capture the magnitude of the magnolia tree, and its exposed roots, we used a wide-angle lens.

As we were photographing artistic portraits, we were also having lots of fun with Teresa and Thomas, which brought out some real emotion :)

When you meet this couple, you instantly fall in love with their genuine, inviting personalities. This explains their massive wedding party, and the family and friends that traveled great distances to be a part of their special day.

Teresa and Thomas used an Old Town Trolley to get their bridal party from the ceremony to the reception, which made for really fun photos.Cocktail hour at the Prado in Balboa Park in San Diego, California Singing mariachi band at cocktail hour of a wedding Reception room at Wedding at The Prado, at Balboa ParkTrue Photography stylized portrait photobooth 0037
During the cocktail hour, we set up a “live” photo booth. We were able to photograph a stylized portrait of each and every guest, including the happy couple. This made for an awesome keepsake!

Later, during the reception, we snuck Teresa and Thomas out of the room for a few nighttime photos. We used off-camera lighting for added drama.Group photo at the Prado, in San Diego.

Hot (and Cool) Wedding Colors | Pantone’s 2016 Colors of the Year

By, January 12, 2016

Pantone 2016 Color of the YearAlong with the New Year comes the announcement of Pantone’s Color of the Year! For 2016, Pantone broke from tradition for the first time in history, and made not one but two selections: Rose Quartz and Serenity. These colors combine aspects of warm and cool tones, creating a perfect sense of fresh balance and calm. We decided to show how Pantone’s winners can add to the wedding day fun, and create new possibilities this wedding season.

As you will see in the photos below, both Rose Quartz and Serenity make for dynamic and memorable wedding accent colors. The subtle, muted blues of Serenity are cool and tranquil, while Rose Quartz complements with its punch of pink vibrance. When paired together, the romantic, sunset effect will leave your guests enchanted. Both colors are great any time of year, and can be augmented by a variety of greens and purples, or splashes of silver and yellow. In addition, these hues can be found in the natural environment, creating a dramatic and artistic backdrop for wedding day images.

If you’re looking to add an elegant twist to your big day, we’ve gathered the perfect inspiration for incorporating these trending colors. Scroll through the images below highlighting Rose Quartz and Serenity, and make sure to pin your favorites :)

Quick Changes: Wedding Style Inspiration

By, September 09, 2015

Occasionally, wedding couples run off during the wedding… and then come back, rocking completely different attire. For example, the bride may switch from a colorful cultural garment to a traditional wedding gown, or from an elaborate ballgown to a cocktail dress suitable for dancing the night away. The guys can get in on the fun too, as you will see below. Whatever the motivation, a dramatic wardrobe change can add variety to the day, surprise the guests, and make for astounding photos :)

If you plan on switching outfits during your wedding day, we suggest considering the time it will take. While a complex transformation may hold you up, a quick, well-executed change will let you rejoin the festivities as soon as possible. Here are some quick changes that have turned heads, and kept all of the guests on their toes.
