Wedding Professionals Event | Cal-a-Vie Health Spa & Vista Valley Country Club

By, March 07, 2016

Recently, we were excited to photograph a two-part event for our friends in the industry, including wedding coordinators and event professionals. The first part of this beautiful event was put together by top San Diego wedding coordinator Lisa Lippe, of Details Defined. The event took place at two stunning venues in Vista, California, kicking off at Cal-a-Vie Health Spa. This breathtaking property, nestled on two hundred private acres among rolling hills and vineyards, served as the ideal location for the day’s activities.

Upon arrival, guests were greeted by the sight of a charming windmill and a gorgeous rustic chapel. The 400-year-old chapel is a luxurious and romantic place for private ceremonies, and is a highlight of Cal-a-Vie. For this event, the little chapel’s aisle was lined with ferns, eucalyptus and other greens designed by Blush Botanicals, and accented with candles throughout.

As guests made their way to the grand entrance, they were presented with refreshing cherry-apple spritzers. Once inside, the cozy group of partygoers chatted and enjoyed the winter sunshine on the lawn. Attendees also relaxed in the living room area, with its antique décor and cozy fireplace.

The group soon moved along into the L’Orangerie reception venue, and were awed by an elegant banquet table designed by Blush Botanicals. The table was decked out in a rustic natural palette, consisting of brass vases, candles, calming purples, blushing nudes and green plants. The adjacent fireplace, adorned with lush greenery and candles, was the perfect finishing touch to this breathtaking setting.

With a little downtime, guests enjoyed delicious appetizers, and lounged on chic tufted outdoor furniture. We couldn’t resist the amazing treats and cakes provided by Sweet Cheeks Baking Co., among them a marble fondant icing that looked too good to eat.

Later in the day, we headed over to Vista Valley Country Club, a members-only club and golf retreat adjacent to Cal-A-Vie. Afternoon activities were impressively coordinated by Always Flawless Productions and included a mock wedding ceremony and reception. Table details incorporated colorful florals and linens by Sweet Ribbon Events, and elegant plates, glasses and candle holders by Allie’s Party Equipment Rental.

Later, a golf cart took party-goers down to the ceremony site, where the venue’s giant gate doors were decorated with flowers. The site’s understated and dreamy presentation included overhead market lights, chandeliers, canvas painting by ArtLive, and music by Mike Officer.

A Redondo Beach Wedding at the Library | Coordinated by Natalie Sofer Weddings and Events

By, May 20, 2013

When Larisa and Greg were first engaged in October of 2012, they knew they wanted Natalie Sofer to assist them in planning the wedding of their dreams.  Natalie runs a full-service event planning company in the Los Angeles area, and also provides month-of and day-of packages. By putting their trust in Natalie and her team, Larisa and Greg were able to relax and celebrate their wedding!

The afternoon started at the beach, an hour before the ceremony, where Larisa and Greg saw each other for the first time that day.

For the ceremony, Larisa and Greg shared their vows at St. Cross Episcopal Church, followed by a grand reception at the Redondo Beach Historic Library.

The reception was an elegant and intimate affair, filled with many personal touches. In the rear of the reception, bookshelves prominently displayed family photos, and a beautifully handmade marriage certificate was presented for all of the guests to sign.

Since both Larisa and Greg are huge movie buffs, the reception featured an “at the movies” theme. Each table was named after a favorite film, and unique and fun table placeholders helped guests find their dinner destination.

On their first date, Larisa and Greg had eaten at Canters Deli in Los Angeles, and shared a black and white cookie. To incorporate this fun fact into the wedding, there were individually handmade cookies for each guest to take home. We love that Larisa and Greg really infused their personalities and lives into their wedding day!

Larisa and Greg had expressed a desire to dance a lot during the reception, and to relax and celebrate with friends and family.  Natalie was able to come up with a wedding day timeline that enabled them to do just that.

What a beautiful end to a perfectly coordinated day.  Thanks Natalie for taking such great care of our wedding couples!

Featured Engagement Shoot: An Urban Outing with High School Sweethearts

By, May 15, 2013

Nicole and Alan are high school sweethearts, and are originally from Los Angeles. Nicole is a news reporter at NBC, and Alan owns a restaurant called Las Hadas Bar and Grill in the Gaslamp. Not to mention, these two are pretty darn good looking! To capture their life in the city, we headed to downtown San Diego, which seemed like the perfect spot for this urban engagement shoot.

We started off the shoot in East Village, and from there, walked through the gates of PETCO Park. The red brick of the old Western Metals Supply Co. building provided a quintessentially urban backdrop, as did the modern architecture of the stadium. Later, as the sun set, we ventured across the iconic pedestrian bridge that crosses over Harbor Drive.

Nicole and Alan were a pleasure to work with, and we are excited to capture their wedding day this coming September!
