Diana & Kyle – Striking Balboa Park Engagement Photos

By, January 13, 2016

Sometimes life has a way of coming full circle. Although Diana and Kyle went to nearby high schools, they were separated by a few grades, and didn’t know each other. Years later, they connected through a social app, and hit it off immediately. The rest, as they say, is history. Next summer they will be tying the knot at the Old Mission San Luis Rey with a reception at Green Gables Wedding Estate.

For this well-matched couple’s engagement photos, we ventured all over San Diego’s historic Balboa Park. From a photographer’s perspective, the park has much to offer, including Spanish-influenced historical landmarks, tranquil reflecting ponds, and a desert garden full of succulents. We had fun capturing images of these two in a variety of backdrops and natural environments.

Diana and Kyle brought along two outfits, and the delicate lace and pop of color on Diana’s dresses came out brilliantly in the resulting photos :) We hope you enjoy our selection of favorites below.

Encinitas Engagement Photo Shoot at the Beach | Christina & Anthony

By, March 16, 2012

When Christina and Anthony came to us to photograph their engagement shoot, they knew they wanted to incorporate the beach and also have a little fun in the city. Because Encinitas has a good mix of beautiful beaches and an eclectic downtown area, we decided to drive up the coast!

We started at Moonlight Beach, where the happy couple popped open some champagne to let loose. Christina and Anthony seemed natural in front of the camera, just being silly and enjoying every minute of it. After the beach, we walked along the train tracks and headed up a few blocks from the water to Highway 101.

Next, we stopped in front of the unique Nixon headquarters building, which looks like a big brown barn. There, we met a laid-back couple coming from the Birkenstock store across the street, and they willingly acted as living props in our shoot. They were great sports!

Eventually, we made our way to Charlie’s Foreign Car shop for some neat photos with an old classic car. Then we made a final pit stop at Angelo’s Burgers, where Christina and Anthony’s goofy side came out as they drove an invisible car through the drive-thru!

We all had a blast, and captured so many unique scenes during this engagement shoot. We can’t wait for Christina and Anthony’s amazing wedding at The Grand Del Mar this September.  We hope you enjoy a few of our favorite finished images from our shoot!

Day 7 of 12: Red wedding color inspiration

By, December 25, 2011

In honor of Christmas Day, we are putting the spotlight on red. Red is the color of love, energy, prosperity and power. Brides and grooms who choose red as a wedding color tend to be bold and passionate!  Also, in Asian cultures, red symbolizes good fortune and happiness, and it is used often in traditional weddings.

Red has impact in many ways, and we love the way it brings out energy in photos. We’ve seen bridesmaids in full-length red gowns, tables with bright red centerpieces and candelabras, and red Christian Louboutin heels peeking out from below a beautiful wedding dress. Take a look below at a handful of red photos we’ve captured at recent weddings, and don’t forget to visit our blog tomorrow to see the next featured color — SILVER!
