Carlsbad Beach Wedding | Julie and Chad

By, May 12, 2016

Julie and Chad were married at Cape Rey Carlsbad, a Hilton Resort in coastal North County, just outside of San Diego. The resort is located only 150 feet from the beach, which allows couples to enjoy beautiful outdoor ceremonies. The site has an amazing backdrop also  – the Pacific Ocean :) Here are some of our favorite photos from this coastal California wedding celebration.

As Julie got ready for the big day, a fresh sea breeze came in through the windows. We made use of the room’s natural light, giving the photos a bright and airy feel (above).

The ceremony site at Cape Rey is so close to the beach that you can smell the ocean. Since the site is located in a private part of the resort, it is nice and secluded.

Julie and Chad paid tribute to Chad’s Jewish heritage by signing a ketubah (marriage contract), and the officiant sang beautiful traditional Jewish songs under the chuppah (wedding canopy).

To photograph romantic couples portraits, we took full advantage of the resort’s proximity to the beach. For example, the stairs at Carlsbad Beach are directly across the street!

While capturing beach photos with Julie and Chad, we also photographed the cocktail hour, the reception dinner table, and all the beautiful details. This is why two photographers are so essential, because even the most talented shooter can’t be in two places at once :)

During dinner, guests relaxed and enjoyed a sumptuous meal, which was created by Cape Rey’s talented chefs.

In the photo below, we used a long exposure with a high aperture, which allowing the lights in the picture to create a starburst.

Toes in the Sand with a Beer in Hand | San Diego Beach Wedding

By, August 16, 2013

Did you know that you can celebrate your “I Do’s” under the sunny Southern California rays, right on the sand? If partying down on the beach with a beer in hand sounds like your dream wedding, be sure to check out True Beach Events. With its seasoned team of pre-qualified vendors, True Beach Events will make your entire wedding process easy and enjoyable!

Because summer is in full swing, we selected this awesome beach bar from a recent True Beach Events wedding as our Photo of the Week. For this particular celebration, the event team created a modern tropical paradise incorporating many natural beach elements. We love how Alchemy Fine Events used this sleek cubicle unit as a bar back, and styled it with vibrant florals from Isari Flower Studio. And the very best part about this bar? An unobstructed view of the glimmering Pacific Ocean!

Watercolor Wedding Invitations By ALFIE Design For A San Diego Beach Wedding

By, February 12, 2013

April Feldman, one of True Photography’s very own, specializes in watercolor wedding invitations through her ALFIE Design company. For wedding couples looking for unique and custom wedding invitations, be sure to check out her work at Arelor.com.

April recently worked with Shoshana and Brian, who had a vibrant, “beachy” wedding at South Ponto Beach in Carlsbad. Together with True Beach Events, the couple planned a simple ceremony overlooking the ocean, followed by a colorful tented reception right on the sand. In order to match the look and feel of their big day, Shoshana and Brian wanted their wedding invitations be bold and colorful.

In order to carry out the beach theme, ALFIE Design created a tropical, four-piece invitation suite. The invite itself encouraged guests to wear flip flops, in order to enjoy the sand beneath their feet.

The bright aquas, pinks and purples, and neutral tones used in the invitation suite also carried over to the wedding decor.

The first bit of inspiration for the invite card came from a photo of a crashing wave, which was taken by world-renowned ocean photographer Aaron Chang. Shoshana and Brian have this black and white photo hanging in their house, and they used it to influence their wedding day vision.

April created a watercolor inspired by Aaron Chang’s crashing wave by blending different shades of aqua against a soft rose-colored sunset.  After creating the original watercolor, April digitized the image, and typeset the text. The final invite card was printed on a fine art bamboo paper.

The invite included a quote from Bob Marley’s “One Love” inside of the wave. The invitation suite was tied together with aqua string, and paired with a matching envelope.

In order to give guests could a visual representation of the wedding location, a map to was included with the main invite card.  The back of the map contained directions to the wedding site at South Ponto Beach, along with information about guest accommodations, the couple’s registry, and suggested attire for their beach event.

Instead of a traditional RSVP card with an envelope, ALFIE created a more casual RSVP postcard. Each RSVP postcard included a festive Hawaiian shirt stamp that read Aloha!

To tie in Shoshana and Brian’s love for surfing and sunsets, the backside of the RSVP postcard featured a watercolored beach sunset.

On their wedding day, Shoshana and Brian were able to enjoy a similar gorgeous beach sunset!

Family and close friends received an additional rehearsal invite, which was printed on shimmer paper. The rehearsal card was watermarked with a lightly painted sunset as a backdrop to the text.

Starting with the easygoing vibe of the invitation, everything came together beautifully on Shoshana and Brian’s wedding day!
