An Elegant Evening Wedding Featuring a Bridal Gown from “The Bustle” | Del Mar, California

Helping brides find their dream wedding gown is an amazing experience, and it happens daily at The Bustle! For example, when Brook and Shahin celebrated their November nuptials at The Grand Del Mar this year, they were perfectly dressed for the occasion. Our bridal boutique, located in Del Mar, California, was very happy to help Brook look her best!

Typically, brides will try on many gowns during their appointment at our boutique. However, Brook spotted her dream dress right from where she was sitting, and tried it right on. Her entourage convinced her to try on a second gown, just to “be sure,” but Brook had already settled on her dream dress.

In all of our experience, we had yet to meet a bride who knew within an instant which dress was perfect for her. The gown Brook chose was a Maggie Sottero named Fiorella, and it featured a beaded strap that she particularly loved.

And, how dramatic is the back of this dress? What a perfect fit for The Grand Del Mar.

Brook’s veil had a gorgeous colored-ribbon edging, which we custom ordered from Toni Federici to match the color of her gown.

The pewter color of the strap gave the satin gown a lavish and creamy feel. Brook’s gown perfectly complemented her bridesmaids’ dresses and floral colors. With its elaborate rouching and pick ups, Brook’s gown mastered every detail.

Usually, as brides-to-be sip champagne and browse the many styles we carry, we also interview each one to make sure we know the look they’re after. Brook made this process incredibly easy! From that first appointment, all the way through her alterations, it was an honor working with Brook. We just love how happy she looks with Shahin in the photo below!

At The Bustle, we like to think we’re pretty good at making bustles look magnificent!

A Wild Wedding at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park | Flowers by Simply Adina Floral Design

When I met with Meredith and Mark, they knew they wanted a tight, clean look for their October wedding at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. They came to me in February, well before their wedding date, to make sure we had ample time to solidify a floral design. The overall concept was to create something that would be simple, yet still “pop”, and complement their day without overwhelming it.

There is so much texture at The Safari Park, and it’s predominantly green, in varying shades & hues. Because of the park’s striking beauty, with its lush, shapely foliage in every direction, we agreed on beautiful shades of burnt orange as the theme color. The orange delivered a visual punch and a simple, crisp look, and it played off the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Meredith’s bridal bouquet was a simple cluster of Mango & Flame, which are two kinds of mini Calla Lilies. I opted to use both varieties because they provided different textures & variations, all within the same narrow color scale. Her bouquet was clean, understated, and beautiful!

Mark’s boutonnière was a single Mango Calla Lily, which was wrapped in a shiny gun-metal ribbon. It was designed to mirror the table linens at the reception!

For the reception chairs, we added Circus Roses down the aisle side, providing another accent and color. We also included a few “Kermit” Button Mums, Bear’s Grass, and Lemon Tip, which mimicked the shades and shapes of the Safari Park’s wonderful greenery.

For lighting during the ceremony, the original idea was for a vintage chandelier to hang over Meredith and Mark during their vows. However, after much discussion, we knew we needed more of a visual impact than even a very large chandelier could offer! Instead, we suspended lanterns at varying heights and distances. The result was a breathtaking, romantic display that kept the guests focused on the bride and groom.

The centerpieces at the reception were simple clusters of Circus Roses & Lemon Tip, placed atop shiny, gun-metal linens. The design flow was cohesive, and remained intact from the beginning of the event to the end.

Simple, clean designs can be deceiving. Sometimes, they are actually extremely complex to pull off! But I love the act of practiced restraint. These types of designs force me to work within very narrow parameters, for a finished look that is timeless and elegant. Meredith & Mark were a joy to work with!

A Unique and Charming Wedding at Mt. Woodson Castle | Ramona, California

Mt. Woodson Castle is a historic event venue, nestled in the rugged natural setting of Ramona, California. Built in the 1920’s, the Castle sits adjacent to the Mt. Woodson Golf Club. It is multi-level, and consists of 12,000 square feet! With an amazing management team, led by our Venue Coordinator Tracy Zemke, Mt. Woodson Castle offers magical wedding ceremonies and receptions.

In October of 2012, we held a beautiful Mt. Woodson Castle ceremony and reception for Kyle and Melina. With help from Julie Scrivener, wedding coordinator from The Best Wedding for You, Kyle and Melina’s rustic country wedding theme came together exceptionally.

Melina and her ladies prepped for the wedding in the Bridal Suite, which is located inside the Castle, upstairs from the Great Room.

Meanwhile, the guys got ready and relaxed down the hall, in their own Groom’s Suite.

As soon as the wedding party was ready for the celebration to begin, they popped their heads to announce their presence.

Kyle and Melina’s ceremony was held on the Front Lawn of the Castle, surrounded by friends and family. The Castle itself served as a gorgeous backdrop for the ceremony.

After reciting their vows, Kyle and Melina ventured around the Castle’s property to enjoy their first moments as husband and wife.The happy couple was photographed near various locations, including the windmill and the serene lake.

After the ceremony, guests moved dining tables on the Upper Lawn, near the Castle’s front doors. Since the bride and groom both have backgrounds in graphic design, each table was named after a different type font. The reception was filled with beautiful shades of ivory, burgundy and burlap, with the décor and centerpieces created by Tessilk Flowers.

Mr. and Mrs. Isbell were welcomed into the reception during their grand entrance. Later into the evening, guests enjoyed a delicious menu from Personal Touch Dining.

Following dinner, Kyle and Melina share their First Dance as husband and wife inside the Castle’s Great Room.

The Great Room is aptly named, with its 16-foot ceilings, charming fireplace, wood beams and stone walls. For this wedding, the Great Room was transformed into an evening party, with music by Elite British DJ.

The evening continued with tons of dancing, a bouquet toss from the balcony of the Castle, and a cupcake cutting to end the evening. It was truly an amazing wedding for a very beautiful couple.
