Julie and Chad were married at Cape Rey Carlsbad, a Hilton Resort in coastal North County, just outside of San Diego. The resort is located only 150 feet from the beach, which allows couples to enjoy beautiful outdoor ceremonies. The site has an amazing backdrop also – the Pacific Ocean :) Here are some of our favorite photos from this coastal California wedding celebration.
As Julie got ready for the big day, a fresh sea breeze came in through the windows. We made use of the room’s natural light, giving the photos a bright and airy feel (above).
The ceremony site at Cape Rey is so close to the beach that you can smell the ocean. Since the site is located in a private part of the resort, it is nice and secluded.
Julie and Chad paid tribute to Chad’s Jewish heritage by signing a ketubah (marriage contract), and the officiant sang beautiful traditional Jewish songs under the chuppah (wedding canopy).
To photograph romantic couples portraits, we took full advantage of the resort’s proximity to the beach. For example, the stairs at Carlsbad Beach are directly across the street!
While capturing beach photos with Julie and Chad, we also photographed the cocktail hour, the reception dinner table, and all the beautiful details. This is why two photographers are so essential, because even the most talented shooter can’t be in two places at once :)
During dinner, guests relaxed and enjoyed a sumptuous meal, which was created by Cape Rey’s talented chefs.
In the photo below, we used a long exposure with a high aperture, which allowing the lights in the picture to create a starburst.
