Recently, we worked with Eliza and Matthew, who chose The Grand Del Mar as their wedding venue. This elegant couple wanted a refined, intimate and romantic setting for their big day.

With family flown in from all over the world, Eliza and Matthew cherished every moment during their wedding.

Moments before her walk down the aisle, our stunning bride prepares herself in the designer wedding gown of her dreams.

It was a joyous occasion for all involved. The bride and groom professed their love and commitment to one another before God in the chapel, which was illuminated with candlelight and the bride’s favorite flowers.

Minutes after Eliza and Matthew said their vows in the intimate Capella at The Grand Del Mar, and surrounded by family and friends, the two shared their second kiss as husband and wife.

Ever so delicately, Eliza’s veil captured the first hint of fall in the October sky. Reflecting on the moments just passed, our bride was photographed anticipating the magical evening ahead.

It was a vision of romance on this warm Sunday evening in October. As our bride and groom celebrated with their loved ones, the intimate ballroom at the Grand Del Mar was filled with love and happiness.

Matthew gently embraced his new wife during their first dance, as he will for many years to come.

There is something amazing about contributing to a couple’s wedding day; and watching their glowing faces as they enjoy this momentous day is priceless.

Our Wedding Venue Spotlight Shines on The Grand Del Mar

For most brides, the wedding venue selection is one of the most important steps when planning a wedding. A lot of times, the booking of the wedding venue is the very first step in the process! From there, the rest of the visual details start falling into place.

We thought we’d highlight one of our all time favorite San Diego wedding venues, The Grand Del Mar. This is an excellent location for couples looking to have a luxurious and stately wedding, with options available for extravagant and intimate events.

The Grand Del Mar feels like our second (much more impressive) home, and balances a romantic Mediterranean ambiance with the amenities of a fine resort.

While preparing for the wedding, couples can get ready and relax in luxury! In fact, The Grand Del Mar has been named by Conde Nast Traveler as one of the “World’s Best Places To Stay.”

The Grand Del Mar can host a ceremony for nearly 300 guests in the gorgeous old world chapel, which features beamed ceilings and stained glass windows.

For couples who have always dreamed of an outdoor ceremony, the Aria Lawn is the perfect spot! The lawn, which overlooks the resort’s golf course, features a Moroccan pavilion and a staircase to make a grand entrance.

The pristine landscapes and grand architectural components of The Grand Del Mar make for timeless, stunning images. Some of our favorite spots include the authentic wine cellar, the gazebo, the Moroccan pavilion, the courtyard fountain, and the resort library.

For intimate wedding receptions, we typically photograph in the Grand’s signature restaurant, Addison. Addison is the only Five-Star/ Five Diamond restaurant in Southern California.

For larger receptions, the Elizabeth Ballroom is always breathtaking. The Ballroom features crystal chandeliers, ornate finishings and a large performance stage, and can be customized to each couple’s event.

For the ultimate wedding experience, the culinary team and award-winning wine director prepare the most delicious and fresh menus.

With 10,000 square feet and a full stage, the ballroom can easily accommodate even the most extravagant party, with hundreds of guests, themed dancers and live bands.

Evenings at The Grand Del Mar lead to unique photographic opportunities too. We have captured our couples at the Reflection Pool, watching fireworks on the Aria Lawn, having a celebratory cigar on the deck, and heading up the grand staircase to their wedding night suite.

Encinitas Engagement Photo Shoot at the Beach | Christina & Anthony

When Christina and Anthony came to us to photograph their engagement shoot, they knew they wanted to incorporate the beach and also have a little fun in the city. Because Encinitas has a good mix of beautiful beaches and an eclectic downtown area, we decided to drive up the coast!

We started at Moonlight Beach, where the happy couple popped open some champagne to let loose. Christina and Anthony seemed natural in front of the camera, just being silly and enjoying every minute of it. After the beach, we walked along the train tracks and headed up a few blocks from the water to Highway 101.

Next, we stopped in front of the unique Nixon headquarters building, which looks like a big brown barn. There, we met a laid-back couple coming from the Birkenstock store across the street, and they willingly acted as living props in our shoot. They were great sports!

Eventually, we made our way to Charlie’s Foreign Car shop for some neat photos with an old classic car. Then we made a final pit stop at Angelo’s Burgers, where Christina and Anthony’s goofy side came out as they drove an invisible car through the drive-thru!

We all had a blast, and captured so many unique scenes during this engagement shoot. We can’t wait for Christina and Anthony’s amazing wedding at The Grand Del Mar this September. We hope you enjoy a few of our favorite finished images from our shoot!
