Advantages of Beach Weddings
There are many reasons why a San Diego couple would want to hold a wedding on or at the beach. First and foremost, there is the view! Why wouldn’t you want a wedding at one of the most beautiful spots on earth? Surrounded by friends and family, and the gentle lull of the surf, your wedding will be one for the ages. Second, the open air makes for a lovely and scenic ceremony. Standing with your partner, as the waves roll, in is a dreamlike place to recite your vows. Third – instant wedding theme!
Why Guests Love Beach Weddings
There is an extra special feeling when you are invited to a beach wedding, like you are being included in something secret and wonderful. From the coral and turquoise invitations to the anticipation on the drive over, your guests will appreciate being a part of your exciting beach day.
This holds especially true for your relatives and guests from the middle of the country. If they are landlocked, the beach may hold an even greater sense of wonder and mystery to them. They will probably arrive at your wedding early to explore and walk in the sand. At the end, they will likely also be among the last to leave! The beach environment appeals to both young and old, so you will be able to ensure all your friends and relatives can enjoy themselves.
Beach Wedding Budget Options
There are many choices available when it comes to your beach wedding. For example, it is possible on some beaches to hold your wedding right on the sand! This makes your venue truly one-of-a-kind. This is because the tent and all of the elements you'd typically find at a wedding location have to be brought in specifically for your wedding. For example, a generator, instead of typical power sources, must run the catering stations and DJ booth.
The on-beach wedding is not for the faint of heart, as it can be pretty hefty on the budget side if you go all out. But there are also ways to have a more modest wedding on the sand. Keep in mind that not all beaches allow such a wedding, and that specific permits and police supervision may be required. As long as you follow the rules, your beach wedding is sure to be a success!
For those who want something a little more pre-planned, there are plenty of venues located near and around the San Diego beaches. Some of these are almost right on the water, while others are set back a ways but still have that nice beach vibe. From Pacific Beach to Ocean Beach to Oceanside, you have plenty of options.
One thing to note is that beach wedding venues may charge a bit of a premium, as compared to other wedding venues. This is not always the case, but you may find that beach venues do cost a bit more. This is of course due to their location and desirability. Also, popular venues tend to book out months in advance. So if you know you want a beach wedding, and you have a specific venue in mind, it is best to reserve your date as early as possible. The same goes with your San Diego photography team – the earlier the better!
Beach Wedding Theme
As mentioned earlier, a beach wedding is like having an instant theme, all ready to go! This theme can carry through both your ceremony and reception. At the ceremony, why not have vials of sand mix together that are representational of your love? This is not only symbolic, but with contrasting colors of sand, it makes for a dramatic effect. Decorate your wedding backdrop or canopy with Birds of Paradise or other tropical flowers. The bright hues will make your photos look spectacular!
Then, keep the beach going all through the night at your reception. For dinner, serve mahi mahi or gourmet fish tacos with mango salsa, for a taste of the tropics. Book a calypso or reggae band to have your guests up and off their feet, with that authentic steel drum sound. Finally, send each guest home with a handmade shell necklace, with miniature versions for the kids. They will have an unforgettable time!
