There are a lot of wedding planners out there. We are not going to go into a big song and dance about why you should choose Filosophi. Although we do like dancing. But not in that way. If you tend to stray from the beaten path, then you've likely come to the right place. We have a burning desire to make every wedding we plan truly unique and original, to remove everything stereotypical and boring - we embrace tradition where it works, and hop outside the box everywhere else.
Weddings are a big deal, yes. Our office is someone's perfect day, and with that comes a tremendous degree of responsibility. We don't take that lightly, however we do try to take a lighter approach to the process of bringing said perfect day to life. We are genuine, we are ourselves, we don't wear pearls, drink tea, or plot to spend every cent your dad set aside for your wedding since you were 12 years old, on vendors who we are good friends with. Well, we do drink tea, but not out of fancy cups. Actually, we do wear pearls sometimes too, but only in a hip vintage revival kind of way. The point we are trying to make is that Filosophi planners are not stereotypical wedding planners, so if you are looking for pomp and circumstance, you may not like us that much. We are real people just like you, who happen to be very experienced and very good at making weddings happen. If we do say so ourselves :)
Huge budget or tiny budget, every wedding has the potential to be truly unique, without concessions on vision and taste. It just takes some creativity, and that's where we are happy to come in. Of course we do all the usual functions of a planner as well from budgeting to scheduling to amateur relationship counselling, but that kind of goes without saying. We can and have executed weddings of all shapes and sizes, from 800+ people to 4 people, and of all ethnicities. We love the inclusion of cultural traditions such as the money dance, tea ceremony, badeken, saptapadi - the world is rich with ceremonies & customs to honour, bless & celebrate a marriage. We love helping couples make up new traditions all their own as well.
With several years working for one of Vancouver's biggest and best firms under her belt, Filosophi founder Erin Bishop decided to launch the company in 2010, and hit the ground running with loads of client referrals. She was later lucky enough to team up with principal planner Corinne Colledge, as well as a team of assistants who all share her style, creativity, passion and flair for the unusual - and just like that, a brand new planning company with an emphasis on fun, style and originality was born. Now consisting of 5 event planners with a team of assistants behind each, Filosophi Events is becoming one of Vancouver's most sought after companies for brides that want anything but cookie cookie cutter.
In 2012 Filosophi officially added an event design division to the company, headed up by the stylish, creative and crafty Natalie Bjordal.
