This all started with my own wedding, which was one of the more transcendant moments in my life. My wife and I were married by our friends, and we worked with them to craft a ceremony that blended old and new, allowed our guests to participate, and spoke to us--and transported us.
Years later, different friends asked me to marry them, and I got to see the process from the other side. I took each ceremony seriously and used what I knew about the couple and what I learned through discussions to craft a cermony that I felt would elevate the moment that way I would want my own ceremony lifted. Guests at these weddings often remarked that the ceremonies were the best they had ever experienced (except their own, they usually added). Wedding planners took notice and I was surprised to find myself asked to marry couples I did not know.
I continue to do this work because it is challenging. "What makes this couple click?" is a tough question, and 'How do I express this during their ceremony?" requires a lot of attention and care.
Marrying couples is not my real job (my real job is helping to run a test prep company by training and managing teachers). But, I love doing this too.
