We have a passion for simplicity
Pursuing a simpler life, Kevin and LaDonne Wenzel moved to the Texas Hill country to start a small gourmet chocolate company in 1996. Their business plan? Simple ingredients: real chocolate, fresh fruit and nuts, authentic liquers. Quality you can taste.
The Wiseman HouseThe Wiseman House
You can’t miss the robin’s egg blue and yellow Queen Anne Victorian Home next to the Koffee Kup Restaurant just off Hwy 281 in Hico, Texas (pop 1341). First built in 1903 by artist Rufus Wiseman, the home was perfect location for this couple to begin their dream. They lived upstairs during the first few years, handmaking chocolates in the back and selling them out front.
Chocolate Heaven
Within a few weeks of opening their doors, a reporter from the Fort Worth Star Telegram happened through town and stopped by. An article appeared on the front page soon after entitled, "Chocolate Heaven". Since then they have been featured in Texas Monthly, Texas Highways, and Southern Living. The Wild Woman & Gran Saman Truffles have both won best truffle in the professional division at the Austin Chocolate festival. Last year, Wiseman House Chocolates was selected above all other truffles statewide to be served at the Texas Presidential Inaugural Ball.
Our story continues because of you
The Wenzels are grateful to their loyal customers and friends who have entered their story and brought them to where they are today. We are looking forward to the next decade which is sure to bring new creations and new friends to share them with.
