Guess the Dress #2: Mon Amie Bridal Salon

By, February 10, 2015

This week’s mystery dress is presented to you courtesy of Mon Amie Bridal Salon in Costa Mesa, California. This premiere bridal shop has been putting brides in dreamy gowns since 1976, including our lovely bride Jessica!

On her wedding day at the US Grant, Jessica donned the lacy strapless number shown here. With its billowing tiered ruffles and form-fitting shape, the dress gave Jessica an amazing flamenco vibe. To complete the look, she added a long lace scalloped veil, and accentuated her waistline with a stunning floral and rhinestone tie-on sash. But let’s not get distracted. The big question still remains – who designed this dress?  Answer our quiz question below to find out!

Who is the designer of the wedding dress shown here?

Answer: This gorgeous wedding dress is by Pronovias – and Mon Amie Bridal Salon still carries it! :)

Mon Amie Bridal Salon is a spacious boutique that carries gowns and accessories for the entire bridal party. Along with all of the designers listed above, you will find a selection of designer gowns by big names such as Sarah Nouri and Blush by Hayley Paige. We talked with Beth from Mon Amie, who believes this season’s trends will include airy ballgowns, caplets, and dramatic necklines. She also said that many brides are requesting dress options that depart from the traditional white. So you can expect to find these styles and more in store.

Here’s what Beth had to say about visiting Mon Amie:

Keep an open mind! There are thousands of designers that make beautiful dresses, and while you may have a specific style in mind for yourself, sometimes an unexpected dress will steal your heart.  Definitely try on the dresses you are drawn to, but also take a chance.

Once you have found the dress, stop looking. You love it for a reason!

Check out the images we captured of the beautiful dress that Jessica fell in love with, and be sure to visit their boutique.  There is a reason they’ve been in business for over 35 years!!

Guess the Dress #1: The Bustle Bridal Boutique

Who is the designer of the wedding dress shown here?

Answer: This beautiful wedding dress is on The Bustle’s own private label! If you think this dress could be “the one” for you, drive on over to The Bustle – they still have it available in store! :)

As you future brides out there know, wedding dress shopping is typically one of the most exciting things about the planning process. So to inspire your dress selection, and help showcase all of the different styles available, we bring to you our Guess the Dress series!

In each Guess the Dress post, we will test your knowledge of wedding gown designers with a quiz question, and share info about the dress featured. The quiz is just for fun and won’t go on your permanent record. But if you love the dress, it could be yours forever, because we’ll tell you where you can find it :)

Today’s featured wedding dress comes from The Bustle Bridal Boutique in Del Mar, CA! It is a sweet and simple strapless soft lace gown that features a sweetheart neckline, mermaid skirt, corset back closure and sweep train. For a touch of sparkle, and to define her waistline, the bride added a beautiful crystal and pearl embellished belt.  We absolutely love her understated and timeless look!

Along with all of the designers listed in our quiz, The Bustle also carries the popular Cymbeline and Heidi Elnora (who appears on TLC this month), as well as various others.  So, what trends can we expect to see in style this year? According to Alison of The Bustle, “here comes the sparkle,” because elaborate beadwork is hot this season. Also, look for cap sleeves, long sleeves, bateau necklines and low backs across many design collections.

With so many styles and choices available, how do you choose that perfect wedding dress? Try them on, of course :) At your appointment, “try to bring no more than 3 people,” Alison advises. “Too many opinions make it hard for brides to really focus on what it is that makes them feel beautiful.” At every appointment, The Bustle offers cakes, champagne and a cute candy bar for the ultimate “Queen of the Day” experience.  After you find your dream gown, you can take advantage of their in-house alterations, for an easy and convenient process.

Light up the Night | A Spotlight on Tim Altbaum Productions

By, October 03, 2013

So… you’ve booked your venue, decided on the style and theme, and now you’re looking to enhance the space. How can you take a beautiful room and make it your own?  The answer is easy – lighting!

Although its importance is often overlooked, the impact that lighting makes is tremendous. In our opinion, lighting is the additional “wow” factor that makes everything look ten times better. With the flick of a switch, lighting creates a mood, and sets the tone for a fun, formal, or funky event!

Today, we are “highlighting” the ways that uplighting, market lights, and gobos transform different spaces, with examples from our talented friends at Tim Altbaum Productions. After Tim and his crew work their magic, all you have to do is add romantic candlelit votives, and your wedding ambiance is set! Here are a few of our favorite examples from recent weddings.

1. Colored Up-lights

As you’ll see below, colored gel up-lights spice up white walls, and add a pop of color to the room. These lights are available in an array of colors, including fuchsia, blue, and warmer amber hues. With so many choices, you’ll be sure to find the right color to get the party started!

2. Market/Bistro lights

For outdoor events, market lights add a perfect twinkle to the night sky. These lights can be strung parallel to the ground, or draped from high structures to become focal design points. They can even support the weight of paper lanterns and other decorations, which adds a touch of character.

3. Gobos

A gobo, or patterned light source, is a great way to add intrigue and texture to walls and floors. There are tons of gobo designs available for your choosing, meaning you will find something to fit any occasion. And if you want a specific pattern, or perhaps your name, a custom creation can be made just for you!
