Commercial Photo Shoot | Yoga at Hotel Marisol

The Hotel Marisol is a hidden gem on the beautiful island of Coronado, California. This charming boutique property is tucked away on a quiet street, just steps away from shops, restaurants and the pristine white-sand Coronado beach. The hotel caters to locals as well as visitors, and is a nice, relaxing spot for a couples’ getaway.

Recently, the Hotel Marisol began offering Yoga to their guests in the form of small group classes, and even one-on-one instruction. The classes are fully customizable, and take place throughout the hotel property, or in the nearby park or beach. The yoga is paired with a nourishing breakfast, including a variety of blended juices.

In order to showcase all of the healthy options being offered, we were brought on to create the photography for the hotel’s print and online campaigns. While photographing, we set up external light sources to ensure crisp, clean photos. Also, to highlight the hotel’s beautiful surroundings, we made use of a variety of wide-angle and zoom lenses. It was a great shoot, and we hope you enjoy our selection of resulting photos.

Founders Chapel | University of San Diego

Founders Chapel is a house of worship located on the University of San Diego campus. Dating back to 1953, the chapel was built for what was then the San Diego College for Women. Today, it is a popular ceremony location, and is exclusive to USD students, alumni and staff. We love photographing at this classical and traditional site, and incorporating the venue’s details into memorable ceremony photographs.

Having two photographers means being able to document ceremony moments from multiple perspectives, as in the photos above.

The broad and open space of the venue allows us to capture unique vantage points, like the one below.

To capture unexpected point-of-view images, we look for opportunities such as the balcony, which has railings and gates that can be photographed through.

The interior and exterior archways add drama and symmetry, which helps to create elegantly composed images, like the ones below.

For creative couple portraits, we love making use of the surrounding campus areas, in addition to the ceremony space.

Whenever weather permits, the lush green campus lends itself to a nice variety of outdoor photo backdrops.

La Valencia | Classic Venue with a Modern Twist

La Valencia is a vintage Spanish-stye San Diego hotel overlooking La Jolla Cove. With a colorful history dating back to 1926, this old-school gem has color flourishes throughout, and stunning panoramic ocean views. The venue’s tropical garden is tranquil and breathtaking, and is an undeniably gorgeous place to exchange wedding vows.

As photographers, we love finding new, creative ways to put a fresh spin on this old-world venue.

We have our favorite spots also, such as the hotel’s vibrant pink exterior, gorgeous tiled walls, and hand-painted murals.

The surrounding La Jolla neighborhood is a treasure trove of photo opportunities. There are colorful buildings, city backdrops, and the famous La Jolla Cove, all within a four minute walk.

After the ceremony, the nearby beach is an inviting place for couples to relax, have a quick photo session, and refresh before rejoining friends and family. The vivid hues, natural surroundings, and soft light create a sense of timeless intimacy, resulting in beautiful portraits. It is an amazing way to spend the first few moments as a newly married couple :)

As the day crosses over into evening, it’s time to celebrate at La Valencia’s Verandah Ballroom and Terrace. Sitting high above the property, this room provides magnificent views, and is furnished with crystal chandeliers and stylish checkered floors. This elegant setting is perfect for a dramatic grand entrance, and will enchant guests as they party the night away.
