Torrey Pines Engagement | Tiarah and Anthony

By, November 20, 2017

When we met Tiarah and Anthony at Torrey Pines for their engagement shoot, it was a bright, cloudless day. This sounds great in theory, but having limited shade can make for a very challenging photo shoot. Fortunately, we have a solid understanding of light, and knew how to use it to our advantage :) By adjusting for the conditions of the day, we found the best opportunities, and captured great photos for this happy couple!

By shooting from an elevated location, we used the sun to backlight Tiarah and Tony, and reduced the glare in the frame.

To achieve clean shadows, and a balanced backlight, we positioned Tiarah and Tony between the sun and our lens.

By keeping Tiarah and Tony close, and positioning the light source (sun) behind them, we created soft light portraits in less than perfect conditions.

By rotating Tiarah and Tony, and keeping the sun to their right, it created a bolder, more dramatic feel.

As the sun set closer to the horizon, we made our way to the beach. There, we fully embraced the setting sun, and the romantic light it provided.

This time, we allowed direct sunlight to enter our lens, to achieve a sun-kissed look

As the sun set, we brought in a little fill light by using an off-camera flash. This allowed us to balance the image, and have detail throughout the images.

Blue Skies, Fine Food, and Great Friends | A Catered Affair by Personal Touch Dining

By, May 06, 2013

We recently had the honor of catering Shahara and Stephen’s gorgeous wedding reception at the Fairbanks Ranch Club House in Rancho Santa Fe, California. With its lush green golf courses and sparkling lakes, the Club House is one of San Diego’s most picturesque wedding locations. We loved helping our couple to plan a menu that would complement the beauty of their day.

Just prior to their fabulous reception, Shahara and Stephen shared their vows at Mary Star of The Sea, in La Jolla, amongst family and friends.

After the ceremony, guests made their way to the Fairbanks Ranch Club House for an outdoor cocktail hour, with tray passed hors d’oeuvres. Shahara and Stephen’s family and friends really seemed to enjoy the broad assortment of appetizers we presented.

After a quick limo ride to Rancho Santa Fe, Shahara and Stephen were reunited with their guests. There was so much energy in the room as they made their grand entrance, and as they danced together as a newly married couple!

Flora Glamor provided dining tables for the formal dining area, which were covered in iridescent crushed satin and ivory linens. The tables were adorned with gorgeous centerpieces of alternating heights, which were comprised of pastel colored roses and hydrangeas. Finishing off each centerpiece were dangling crystals, which sparkled against the sunny blue skies.

Next up?  Dinner! We provided a long-reaching buffet featuring hand-carved grilled tri-tip, crusted chicken, garlic whipped potatoes, a field green salad, and fresh seasonal veggies.  Delicious.

After dinner, guests were treated to a fun frozen yogurt station, with several flavor varieties, and decadent candy toppings.  We thought this was a very creative way to add to the traditional cake ceremony. But, don’t worry…there was still cake!

Following dinner, the dance floor was open for business!

After the last song, everyone headed down to the edge of the lake to light floating lanterns, and send the newlyweds on their way.

What a fabulous way to wrap-up a perfect day.
