Mission Beach Engagement Photo Shoot

Mission Beach is a great spot to have fun and play off each other as a couple. There is so much to do, including riding the roller coaster, playing carnival games, and enjoying a boardwalk treat. The scene pops with color, and there are interesting backdrops at every turn.

After a few spins on the Tilt-a-Whirl, you may be ready for a change of pace. For a more natural setting, the beach is just steps away, across the street. The beach itself is a large, open area that seems to stretch forever, and has quieter spots where you can let loose or enjoy a romantic moment together.

Seaport Village Engagement Photo Shoot

Seaport Village is one of our favorite places to photograph engagement shoots, hands down. It provides a ton of variety all within a close proximity. Within steps of the waterfront, you’ll find parks, a carousel, street performers, natural landscapes, and an old abandoned jail. Also, many other downtown San Diego landmarks are within walking distance, such as the harbor and the US Midway. We suggest bringing along flip-flops, as there can be a lot of walking to get to destinations within the area. After the shoot, you’ll be able to grab a relaxing bite in Seaport Village itself or in the newer, neighboring Headquarters at Seaport District.

Balboa Park Engagement Shoot | Lauren and Ryan (and Charlie the Puppy)

Lauren and Ryan met while hard at work at a local biotechnology company. During one of the monthly all-company lunches, Lauren overheard Ryan talking about his brand new Vizsla puppy. Lauren, a fan of the little-known breed, immediately turned around and asked for details. Ryan, of course, was eager to share. A few weeks later, Lauren received a picture of “Charlie” in her inbox. The rest was history!

Both San Diego natives, Lauren and Ryan both grew up visiting Balboa Park as children. They each remember trying to catch “the ring” from the carousel, and were captivated by the overall beauty of the park. They decided to have their engagement shoot at the iconic San Diego landmark, and fondly chose the carousel as their starting destination. During the shoot, we made our way through many of the park’s picturesque locations (archways, flower fields, grassy lawns), for a variety of different moods and backgrounds.

When taking photos with Charlie, Charlie ended up giving Lauren a HUGE wet kiss – oops! Looks like he approves :) Enjoy the highlights below.
