Urban Wedding Photos that Stop Traffic

By, March 26, 2015

Instinctively, many urbanite couples flock to the city center to celebrate their big day. This makes sense, because metropolitan city centers have an abundance of wonderful wedding locations. These venues boast first-class hospitality professionals, the region’s culinary masters, and pristine cityscapes from every window.

In addition to the breathtaking views inside, the surrounding skyscrapers, busy cross-sections, and graffiti are ideal for wedding photos with an edge. So whenever we photograph a downtown wedding, we love taking it to the streets! If time (and weather) allows, we borrow the wedding party, and venture outdoors for memorable urban-chic photos.

Take a trip downtown as we look back at some of our favorite municipal moments.

Balboa Park Engagement Photo Shoot

Balboa Park, a beloved San Diego institution, is one of the nation’s oldest public parks. We love photographing engagement shoots there because everything is within walking distance. This means we are able to accomplish more pictures and greater variety within a shorter time period. We’ve been photographing in Balboa Park for years and know every nook and cranny that it has to offer. A Balboa Park engagement photo shoot always results in a nice mix of timeless shots and fun images.

Many of us are long time (or lifelong) San Diegans, and nothing says San Diego quite like Balboa Park. Some of our favorite landmarks to incorporate into engagement photo shoots are the stately Museum of Man entrance, the tranquil koi pond, and the classic organ pavilion. There is natural beauty all around too, with many diverse locations in walking distance. We even have our own secret spots to photograph :) For all of these reasons, Balboa Park is an ideal outdoor photo shoot location.

To arrange your own Balboa Park engagement shoot, feel free to contact us. For inspiration, please enjoy recent engagement photos we captured in and around the park.

Bridge Walk to Petco Park Engagement Shoot

A relatively recent San Diego-area landmark (constructed in 2011), The Harbor Drive Pedestrian Bridge was created to guide pedestrians safely to and from the downtown baseball stadium. Because of its minimalist design, lighting, and stainless steel features, the bridge makes a great photo setting. When photographing engagement shoots downtown near the water, we suggest making the bridge a stopping point along the way. It is close to many other downtown San Diego backdrops, and brings a nice urban feel to the photos. If you’d like to visit the Harbor Drive Pedestrian Bridge, you’ll find it across Harbor Drive at Park Boulevard.

To arrange a Downtown San Diego engagement shoot, please feel free to contact us.
