Life Imitates Art | Photo of the Week

By, April 29, 2016

Here in San Diego, we are fortunate to have a selection of world-class museums within driving distance. Many of these museums also double as eclectic and distinctive wedding venues. For example, the Contemporary Museum of Art in La Jolla is a standout wedding location, with its abundance of artistic backgrounds, modern aesthetic, and edgy design. Whenever we photograph here, we like to incorporate the museum’s vibrance into the wedding day photos as much as possible.

In preparation for Vanessa and Len’s wedding, we discovered this unique, modern wall of the Museum tucked away in a corner of the reception. As you’ll see in the photo below, we framed the lines around our couple, and added a single backlight of flash for contrast. This added drama and intensity to a quiet and intimate moment, and resulted in our Photo of the Week :)

Majestic Mountain Kiss | Lookout Mountain Preserve, CO

By, April 22, 2016

Kristin and Ryan were married at the historic Boettcher Mansion in Golden, Colorado. The wedding featured a gorgeous onsite chapel, an outdoor banquet table, live music, and a mouthwatering dessert station. It was a beautiful event at an extraordinary Colorado wedding venue.

As photographers, we were swept away by the site’s distinctive sandstone formations, abundant forests, and dramatic blue skies. To make the most of our surroundings, we captured a first kiss photo at the nature reserve nearby. As you’ll see below, it was “naturally” amazing.

Moment of Suspense | Beverly Wilshire Hotel, Beverly Hills

By, February 05, 2016

In our opinion, it’s often the quiet moments that tell the most powerful stories. For example, take a look at the photo below, which was taken at Kelly and Julio’s luxurious Beverly Wilshire Hotel wedding. While photographing Kelly’s final moments before the ceremony, we noticed her sneaking a peek out the window, just as guests began to arrive. It was a brief pause for reflection and transition, in anticipation of the day ahead.

When crafting the final image, we decided on a black and white treatment to heighten the emotion, and to add a sense of drama and timelessness.
