The Beauty of Cultural Traditions

By, March 07, 2014

What do you get when you take a beautiful bride and add glamorous gold jewels?? An absolutely stunning Photo of the Week!

We love photographing traditional weddings, and all of the cultural practices that go along with them. For example, at Smita and Michael’s wedding, the gorgeous bride donned a gold and red bindi along with customary Indian bridal attire. Her dazzling beaded outfit and veil sparkled in the sunlight!

What caught our attention the most was the detailed mehndi  (henna tattoo) on her hands. The intricacy of the design was breathtaking, and we loved highlighting it alongside the rest of her natural beauty.

Love and Marriage Go Together Like a Horse and Carriage | Inspiration Board of Horses at Weddings

By, July 23, 2013

It’s thoroughbred season again at the Del Mar Race track! So, in celebration of the 74th horse-racing season at Del Mar, we’ve created an inspiration board of recent wedding photos featuring horses. Though horses may not be on every couple’s guest list, we’ve seen these beautiful animals involved in a variety of weddings —  from romantic storybook nuptials, to cultural celebrations, to rustic barnyard receptions.

For a majestic vision of a groom riding in on a white horse, take a look at some of the photos from Deepika and Jesse’s Indian wedding at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. This Indian tradition, called the Baraat, involves the groom riding in on a lavishly decorated horse, celebrating the merging of two families. For a storybook happy ending, check out Lena and Wade’s”fairytale” wedding at The Grand Tradition, where the newlyweds were whisked away in a horse drawn carriage. And, for a more rustic feel, we’ve included photos of horses at ranch style weddings, at venues like the The Ranch at Bandy Canyon and a private equestrian estate in Pinyon Pines.

In all cases, horses represent beauty and grace, often signifying romance or festivity. Not to mention, they look pretty cool in photographs! We hope you enjoy this week’s inspiration, and perhaps it will prompt you and yours to make a galloping grand entrance :)

Beautiful Indian Bride | Wedding Reception at Rancho Bernardo Inn | February 15, 2013

By, February 15, 2013

We’re bringing you a hint of beauty this Friday! We chose this gorgeous photo of Mariam from her wedding reception this past December. Mariam and her husband Umer hosted a multi-day Indian celebration, which included a Henna Party at the Palo Verde Lake Clubhouse in Alpine, a wedding at La Jolla Torrey Pines Hilton, and a Groom’s Reception at The Rancho Bernardo Inn.

The photo we selected was taken before the third day of celebration, in front of the lush landscapes at The Rancho Bernardo Inn. In the photo, Mariam is wearing a stunning green and gold Indian Lehenga. Her gold-beaded headpiece, which is draped down the sides of her face, is intended to invoke the blessings of the sun for good health, and the moon for peace.
