Green Gables Wedding Estate | Venue Spotlight

By, February 29, 2016

Tucked away in the secluded forests of San Marcos lies the rustic, elegant Green Gables Wedding Estate. A historical landmark dating back to 1889, this chic venue is well-known for its array of antique accents and lush, tranquil gardens. For couples seeking a rustic destination-style wedding, both Green Gables and its sister property Twin Oaks Garden Estate are popular choices, and strikingly beautiful locations.

One of Green Gables’ most prominent features is the Old Richland Schoolhouse, which overlooks the venue’s English-inspired garden ceremony site.

The building’s interior is decorated with regal Victorian furniture, with massive windows drawing in natural light.

Outside, the classic wooden swing (above right) brings out the joy and excitement of the day, and is one of our favorite spots to photograph.

At reception time, guests find their way to Green Gables’ impressive tented pavilion. With its draped-chiffon ceilings, and five crystal chandeliers, the pavilion’s intimate atmosphere is the perfect environment for a lively evening. We love pushing the envelope in such a beautiful space, and we use an array of lighting techniques to capture the scenery in creative ways.

As the party gets underway, and the dance floor heats up, we like to borrow the bride and groom for a series of fun night portraits. We use shooting methods (such as off-camera flash and long-exposure) to produce eye-catching images that are only possible at night :)

Farm-Fresh Outdoor Colorado Wedding | Elizabeth and Matthew

By, December 09, 2015

We were delighted to photograph Elizabeth and Matthew’s wedding at The Lyons Farmette. This rustic venue is next to the town of Lyons, Colorado, just east of Rocky Mountain National Park. The property is surrounded by beautiful cottonwood trees, rolling fields, and a tranquil stream.

In addition to hosting beautiful weddings, The Lyons Farmette is also an organic farm and education center. As you would expect, the gorgeous outdoor environment was the perfect location for this energetic young couple to wed. Instead of a hotel suite, the property boasted a charming Airstream trailer, where the bride prepared for her big day. The charming reception site was enhanced by the presence of classic cars, barns, tractors, and farm animals, including Nigerian Dwarf goats :)

For added character, Tracey Eaton of True Blue Vintage Rentals placed antique furniture throughout the venue. The wedding was flowered to precision by Flowers Forever Design. There were countless environmental props for us to use, which led to fun and distinctive photos of their day. We hope you enjoy this Rocky Mountain Wedding full of beauty & fun!

When we photograph a first look, like the one above, we aim to capture the moment in a discreet and romantic spot. We then take a step back and capture all of the emotion as it unfolds.

Los Peñasquitos Canyon Engagement Shoot

By, December 26, 2014

A unique aspect of living in San Diego is that we have a variety of landscapes in a relatively short distance. From beaches, to mountains, to deserts,  to urban settings, we have direct access to it all! The same goes for engagement shoot locations, like this special spot in the Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve. Nestled between Rancho Peñasquitos and Mira Mesa, the Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve can be found near the Interstate 5 and 805 merge. The Canyon boasts a slew of amazing natural landscapes, including a waterfall, winding trails, grassy hillsides and majestic sycamore trees. For a beautiful juxtaposition between natural open space and contemporary urban, we like to walk over to the architecturally stunning Syntricity, Inc building. Having so many backgrounds within close proximity gives a lot of variety to the images, and makes for a fun photo session.
