Featured Engagement Shoot: Hangin’ Around an Aircraft Hangar with Mary and Matthew

When we incorporate an element of a couple’s lifestyle into their engagement shoot, we really get to know them before their wedding day. Our engagement shoots often involve capturing a favorite shared hobby, or photographing something significant to the couple’s story. These shoots lead to very special and unique photo opportunities!

When we met up with Mary and Matthew, they thought it would be fun to involve Matthew’s career as an airline pilot in their engagement shoot. What a cool concept! So we met up with this lively pair at a hangar in North County. We had a blast photographing the two of them on and around the planes, and inside the cockpit.

Later, we wrapped up the shoot with a bike ride down to Swami’s beach in Encinitas, which is where Matthew proposed to Mary just a few months ago. We look forward to photographing this pilot, and his soon-to-be co-pilot, at their La Costa Resort wedding this October!

Featured Engagement Shoot: A Sunny San Diego Beach Shoot with Karyn and Frank

Karyn and Frank live six blocks from the ocean, so a beach engagement shoot was a perfect fit for this couple! Because their first date was a bike ride on the beach, it seemed like a nice idea to incorporate bikes into the shoot.

To start things off, we met at Law Street in Pacific Beach, which is a favorite beach spot for locals. Karyn and Frank brought a couple of fun props, including a fresh bouquet of garden roses to matched Karyn’s dress. They also brought an ampersand sign for their Save the Date announcement photo.

We can’t wait to see Karyn and Frank again on their big day at the Rancho Bernardo Inn. Congrats to this upcoming May wedding couple!

Featured Engagement Shoot: Ganisha and Aman in Solana Beach, California

Recently, we photographed Ganisha and Aman, who wanted to embrace their Indian culture throughout their engagement shoot. Although we are accustomed to the traditions of Indian weddings, we are always enthralled by the rich, vibrant colors. So applying these same colors to this engagement shoot was a lot of fun! During the shoot, Ganisha and Aman showcased their outgoing personalities, soaked up the sun, and displayed their love as a couple!

To start the session, Ganisha wore a stylish embroidered Indian dress, which was full of bold colors and gold accents. We began about a block away from our studio, which was previously located on Cedros Avenue, in the Design District of Solana Beach. Cedros is a street with artistic ambiance, and it is full of colorful walls, unique gardens and eclectic boutiques. It is a very visual location, and has lots of striking backdrops! As the sun set, we took a stroll down to the ocean for a few playful and romantic shots.
