Windansea Beach, a favorite among locals and surfers, was named after a popular hotel that existed in the area until 1943. We enjoy photographing engagements at Windansea Beach because of its natural beauty and fabled reputation. It’s a nice spot to kick off your sandals, be playful, and enjoy the waves crashing against the rocks. The area is so beloved that the famous Surf Shack at Windansea Beach was designated as a San Diego historical landmark.

Windansea Beach also features some of the best and most breathtaking sunsets in the San Diego area. For the best light conditions, we typically start Windansea shoots a little over an hour before sunset. Also, for a more secluded feel, its best to arrange a shoot outside of peak summer months. Otherwise, Windansea can get fairly crowded.
