Niagara Falls, New York

By, October 14, 2013

So, I know it’s been a little while since we were in Chicago, but I promise that we have since ventured on from that amazing city to continue our cross country True Tour.  We left Chicago on a rainy day and headed south to Cincinnati Ohio for a quick nights stay and visit with some long time friends :)  As we took off the next morning, we timed our trip perfectly to end up in Pittsburgh, PA to catch some good old fashioned baseball between our #1 Padres and the Pirates.  We won.  Our mid west driving spree ended when we hit New York and took in the sights and sounds of Niagara Falls.  We captured this amazing photo of the falls with the constant double rainbow shining proudly.

Photographing the Trump International Hotel and Tower, Chicago

By, September 23, 2013

After leaving Edmonton, Canada, we put on some serious miles, and made it east to “The Windy City” – Chicago! There, we were greeted by Michelle Jacob, the Catering Sales Manager of the the Five-Star, Five-Diamond Trump International Hotel and Tower. Right away, we could see the care and dedication Michelle puts into her weddings. It’s clear that she’s there every step of the way, ensuring that every wedding is perfect.

If you are wanting a luxurious destination wedding, the Tower is definitely the place to be. Located along the Chicago River, the hotel has become part of the iconic city skyline, and definitely stands out among the other surrounding buildings.

The Terrace at the Trump is a breathtaking location to hold your cocktail hour, with primetime views of the Wrigley Clock Tower, Lake Michigan and the Chicago River.

The hotel has plenty of space to accommodate the bride and groom, as well as the whole wedding party!  The property’s 339 rooms are all luxuriously appointed, with beautiful views and deluxe amenities.

As you’ll see on the left, below, our puppy True insisted on trying the high thread count that the Trump beds offer. Ok… so this one was really shot at our hotel down the road :) But we learned that the Trump Hotel does welcome pets. It even has an extensive pet care program, complete with an in-room dining menu!

The Grand Ballroom is the spot to have your formal wedding reception! While at the Tower, we photographed the details of a wedding happening that evening. Our favorite features to photograph included the 180-degree views of the downtown landscape, as well as the dramatic pendant lampshades. As you can see below, the resulting images really show off the sleek curved walls and 24-foot windows.

We looked out of one of the ballroom windows, and the view to the river below is pretty amazing. The yacht sailing by really completes the shot!

The unique aspects of The Trump Hotel and Tower just keep going on and on :)  There are so many interesting angles to capture! It truly does stand out and above the rest.

Edmonton, Canada | Stylish Rainy Wedding | Mary and Toan

By, September 19, 2013

We reached the most northern destination of our 50-day traveling adventure: Edmonton, Canada! While there, we captured the stylish and eventful wedding of Mary and Toan. In celebration of their marriage, these Edmonton natives had both a traditional tea ceremony and a Western-style ceremony!

You know how they say that rain on your wedding day is actually good luck?  Well, if this statement is in fact true, then Mary and Toan will have a lifetime full of good fortune.  The rain began early in the day and decided to stay throughout the festivities :) Fortunately, the rain also brought the opportunity to have fun and play a bit. Check out some of our favorite shots below!

The two different ceremonies allowed the bride to showcase two uniquely different dresses, both of which popped against the green landscape of Edmonton.

Following the traditional tea ceremony, we headed to downtown Edmonton in a limo bus to get the party started.  On the way, we made use of the city’s landmarks for some ‘outside the box’ photos. Our favorite highlights included the uniquely colored windows of the downtown buildings, and the quirky outdoor sculptures.

To capture more photos of the bridal party, we headed to Louise McKinney park, which features a variety of backdrops within walking distance.  A little further across the bridge was the Muttart Conservatory, which is known for its signature glass pyramid buildings. These interesting buildings were a lot of fun, photo-wise. As you can see below, the bridal party was having a blast as well!  Rain and all :)
