Edmonton, Canada | Stylish Rainy Wedding | Mary and Toan

By, September 19, 2013

We reached the most northern destination of our 50-day traveling adventure: Edmonton, Canada! While there, we captured the stylish and eventful wedding of Mary and Toan. In celebration of their marriage, these Edmonton natives had both a traditional tea ceremony and a Western-style ceremony!

You know how they say that rain on your wedding day is actually good luck?  Well, if this statement is in fact true, then Mary and Toan will have a lifetime full of good fortune.  The rain began early in the day and decided to stay throughout the festivities :) Fortunately, the rain also brought the opportunity to have fun and play a bit. Check out some of our favorite shots below!

The two different ceremonies allowed the bride to showcase two uniquely different dresses, both of which popped against the green landscape of Edmonton.

Following the traditional tea ceremony, we headed to downtown Edmonton in a limo bus to get the party started.  On the way, we made use of the city’s landmarks for some ‘outside the box’ photos. Our favorite highlights included the uniquely colored windows of the downtown buildings, and the quirky outdoor sculptures.

To capture more photos of the bridal party, we headed to Louise McKinney park, which features a variety of backdrops within walking distance.  A little further across the bridge was the Muttart Conservatory, which is known for its signature glass pyramid buildings. These interesting buildings were a lot of fun, photo-wise. As you can see below, the bridal party was having a blast as well!  Rain and all :)

You know what they say, kids. No running when its wet out, or you’ll slip and fall!

Unique Seattle Area Wedding Venues

By, September 11, 2013

Just 20 minutes from Seattle, across the Washington River, lies the town of Bellevue, Washington. Bellevue means “beautiful view,” and this town lives up to its name! If you are looking to get married near Seattle, and want a location with rich greenery and a gorgeous river backdrop, then this place may be perfect!

During our Bellevue venture, we scouted out one of the most popular venues in the city, Robinswood House and Cabana. Tucked inside Robinswood Park, and surrounded by evergreen trees, this venue is a wonderful place to exchange “I Do’s”. It can even handle more than 200 guests!

Robinswood House and Cabana features multiple indoor rooms, a formal English garden, and two patios. Both patios are suitable for a ceremony, cocktail hour and/or wedding reception. Who wouldn’t want to get married here?

Our next stop was Kirkland, Washington, which is just 3 miles north of Bellevue. In Kirkland, we visited the only waterfront hotel on Lake Washington, the Woodmark Hotel, Yacht Club and Spa. In addition to a scenic lakefront, this hotel also boasts views of the Seattle Skyline and Olympic Mountains!

While we were there, we were were lucky enough to witness a wedding taking place. Guests enjoyed their dinner reception outside on the Olympic Terrace, and then moved into the Lake Washington Ballroom for music and dancing. It was very elegant and picturesque!

One more unique detail to this hotel is their personal Chris Craft boat, appropriately named the Woodmark II.  The morning after a wedding, Bride and Groom are treated to either a ceremonial sendoff, or a relaxing breakfast trip around the lake! What a fun way to start a new life together :)

Overall, we were impressed by both the Robinswood House and the Woodmark Hotel. If you are a bride getting married in the Seattle area, these are two must-see venues!

Greetings from Olympia, Washington

By, September 09, 2013

If the first photo below could talk, it would say “Greetings from Olympia, Washington!”  As we move forward in our great Pacific Northwest traveling adventure, we stopped to stay in Washington’s state capitol of Olympia.  Olympia is an hour south of Seattle, at the very southern end of the Puget Sound, and is known as a liberal hub for musicians and artists. We cruised into town at just the right time to experience “Olympia Harbor Days” – an entertainment, food and art festival honoring tugboats and maritime heritage.

We wanted a short hike in one of the many parks in Olympia, so we took the McLane Creek Nature Trail.  There, we captured some beautiful shots of The Evergreen State, including a vibrant, furry friend.
