Downtown San Diego Engagement Photo Shoot

From a photographer’s standpoint, Downtown San Diego provides almost every environment possible. For example, there are photo shoot opportunities at the boat dock, on and around trolleys, and in front of distinctive buildings. The Gaslamp Quarter alone boasts stunning venues such as The Hard Rock Hotel, The US Grant, and The Manchester Grand Hyatt, with unique textures and city scenes throughout the area. If you want your shoot to have an urban edge, downtown is the place to be. There are also small parks to get a bit of nature as well.

Tip: If you plan to arrive in heels, we suggest bringing a pair of flip flops, as there is typically more walking to hit up all the best spots.

Ava and Joel | Downtown San Diego Central Library Wedding

By, August 01, 2014

Ava and Joel are happy residents of downtown San Diego, so it seemed fitting that their wedding be held within walking distance. On the wedding day, the couple got ready at the San Diego Hilton Bayfront, which boasts breathtaking views of the coast and downtown skyline. Both the ceremony and reception were held at the New Central Library @ Joan & Irwin Jacobs Common, which offers an abundance of fascinating backdrops and building features. The entire structure is an architectural marvel, and we loved photographing there. Together, the two venues provided a sleek and ultra modern-setting for this wedding day.

As you’ll see, Ava and Joel’s playful nature and attention to detail made for unforgettable photos :) Their coordinator (who also doubled as their officiant) helped everything come together in perfect harmony. Enjoy the highlights below!

A White Orchid Dream by Suzan M. Florals | Lindsey and Case’s Wedding Atop Symphony Towers

By, April 30, 2013

Lindsey and Case are a really fun couple who recently married at The University Club atop Symphony Towers. This fabulous venue sits on the 34th floor of one of San Diego’s tallest buildings, and offers spectacular views of the San Diego skyline. At Suzan M. Florals, we were excited to create a unique and sophisticated floral design for this wedding!

To safeguard against unexpected rain, Lindsey and Case decided to hold their ceremony inside the Club, overlooking the Coronado Bridge and downtown San Diego.

No matter the location, we like to make sure our florals enhance the beauty of the venue. For the spectacular Symphony Towers, we added cylinders of orchids and floating candles down the aisle, accompanied by lots of beautiful and sparkly crystals. We also placed Manzanita branches and Phalaenopsis orchids behind the back row, so as not to block the ceremony view.

Lindsey and Case’s “altar” was made out of creatively draped linens provided by Concepts Event Design. We think the draping fit both the elegance of the room and the feel of their wedding perfectly!

After the ceremony, while guests were treated to a swanky cocktail hour, the bridal party brought our floral design to the streets!

Lindsey was an absolutely beaming bride, and she was so much fun to work with. Her all-white bouquet was a cascading vision of white Phalaenopsis orchids. For Case’s boutonniere, we placed a single white orchid on a bed of contrasting greenery.

After the ceremony, we moved the tall wooden boxes of orchids from the ceremony site to behind the sweetheart table. This framed the table, and also highlighted the city backdrop.

The centerpieces were made with white hydrangeas, roses, and stock, with green succulents throughout. We just love the look of white flowers at weddings. Instant elegance!

It was a pleasure to make Lindsey and Case’s floral dreams come true. Best wishes to them!
