A Perfect Fit | Wedding Rings

From the moment a proposal is accepted, to the day vows are exchanged, the ring is literally along for the ride :) The engagement ring custom likely dates back to Ancient Egypt, where the left-hand “ring finger” was believed to have a direct connection to the heart. By wearing precious stones and strong metals on this finger, the recipient could demonstrate an everlasting love and commitment to their betrothed.

As wedding photographers, we see many personalized spins on this old custom. Some designs, like the classic solitaire or the dazzling halo diamond, always remain in style. But wedding rings also come in an astounding variety of unique designs, colors, and shapes for a modern approach. Couples have more options than ever to find the perfect fit!

Custom ring boxes can be a great way to keep your treasures safe. For Carmellee and Alvin's wedding day at the Coronado Community Center, the couple had this adorable custom box engraved with their initials and date, for a functional and enduring keepsake.

Venue Spotlight | Grand Tradition

For those seeking a destination-style wedding just outside of San Diego, one of our favorite spots is the all-inclusive Grand Tradition. We have photographed many weddings at Grand Tradition over the years, and have likely covered every corner :) Located in Fallbrook, CA, the property’s 30 acres of rolling green hills and tropical gardens has something for everyone, including two main venue options onsite. Here are examples of each:

Beverly Mansion

If your style is a bit more traditional and classical, our suggestion is the Beverly Mansion, a classic Victorian estate that overlooks the property’s idyllic heart-shaped lake. Ceremonies at the Beverly Mansion are held outdoors by the gazebo, where couples have the option of being brought out by horse and carriage. It definitely has a storybook feel!

After exchanging vows, guests can dance the night away under massive Swarovski crystal chandeliers. And to end the evening, nothing beats a fun and impressive sparkler grand exit, which is sure to leave your guests in awe :)

Arbor Terrace

For those seeking a more laid-back, paradise vibe to their day, we recommend the property’s Arbor Terrace and Pavilion. Inspired by the aesthetics of Hana, Hawaii, the Terrace is set against a gorgeous waterfall backdrop, and is adorned with paths covered in beautiful flowers. The Pavilion, where receptions are held, offers features such as the Hospitality Fountain, which is great for photos. There is also a cozy outdoor fireplace, which is a nice comfortable spot to enjoy a relaxing moment with guests.

A Showcase of Glitzy Garters

The garter toss is an age-old wedding tradition that brings matrimonial luck to a willing recipient. After the groom retrieves the garter from his bride (sometimes with his teeth), he flings it toward the single guys. Depending on the gentlemen in attendance, the garter catch can turn from a friendly contest into a full contact sport. It’s a moment of risqué fun, and a chance for the guys to compete for the attention of the crowd.

Modern garters range from sexy and chic to colorful and flashy. Many brides now wear two garters, one to keep and one to give away. Some brides even surprise their special man with a garter inscribed with his favorite sports team. Catch a few of these beauties displayed below!
