True Photography is the premier destination wedding photography studio. We have photographed weddings all over the globe. For example, we have traveled from Peru to Turks and Caicos, Costa Rica to Napa Valley. Wherever you choose to have your wedding day, we are happy to accommodate.
Destination Wedding Team
Whether you are getting married outside of town, or halfway across the planet, our team is ready. Almost every photographer is an adventurer and traveler by nature. Our studio is no exception! Our photographers travel often, and the more exciting the destination, the better. You name the place, and we will have a photographer (or two) ready to join you. Many of our photographers have extensive experience with destination photography as a specialization. This means they have added training and experience with destination weddings. This is the caliber of photographer that we will assign to your wedding.
Not all destination weddings are far away. For example, you may want to have a wedding that is within driving distance. Your ideal wedding location may be across the state, or at a favorite campground. Or it may be at a relative's home that is outside of town. The advantage to this type of destination wedding is that your guests won't have to drive or travel too far. Most everyone you would like to include should be able to join you at your celebration.
Wedding retreats work well from a photography perspective too. If your wedding is within a few hours, we can often get there by car. And if there is more than one photographer, our team may be able to carpool. Beyond photography, many other local vendors will be willing to make the trip. Let your catering company, coordinator, and florist in on the plans you have in mind. They will need to know the details. If your chosen location is easy and accessible to reach, most vendors will be happy to oblige.
Retreats For Your Guests
From a photography perspective, wedding retreats can be fun and engaging. They provide the opportunity for guests and family to get to know each other in a relaxed setting. The retreat environment helps to break down traditional barriers and formality. A retreat also allows for more time together than a traditional wedding would. If a standard wedding is 6 hours, for example, a retreat could span 2-3 days. This gives everyone a lot of time to hang out as a group, and to feel at ease with one another.
Wedding Retreat Photography
We recommend having having a photographer on hand throughout the entire destination retreat. The reason is that you never know which moment will be the most memorable! It could be an unexpected toast during breakfast, with everyone in their pajamas. Or it could be a late night bonfire and sing-along. We are always ready with the camera, at all points during the event. This is so we don't miss anything that will be extra important or memorable to you, on top of the must-have coverage.
If you are planning a destination wedding retreat, please let us know. This way, we can begin planning your photography package around the event schedule.
Exotic Destination Wedding Photography
Our destination photography coverage doesn't end at nearby getaways and retreats. In fact, this is only the beginning of the types of destination weddings we photograph! On many occasions, we have boarded a plane to join our wedding couples in their dream location. Even though we live in San Diego, our photography team is ready to photograph you anywhere in the world. We also have an extended team in other geographic areas. So one way or another, we are the photography team for your exotic destination. From the Caribbean to Europe to Hawaii, we'll be there.
The destination wedding photography package revolves around the wedding photos themselves. This includes the getting ready part of the day, along with the ceremony and reception. Regardless of the location, we still capture the must have photos, such as formals and table shots. This is so you have all the coverage and wedding photos you would expect from a typical wedding.
On top of this, we will be present and active throughout the destination wedding weekend. Consider us your photographer on call! For example, if you and family rent wave runners or play in the surf, we will be there to capture the fun and enjoyment. If the kids build sandcastles, we will preserve the memory with stylized photography. This ensures you have documentation of the main event, and also of the entire time you are away.
Customs and Rituals
During your destination wedding, you may partake in local customs or celebrations. For example, your reception may feature a regional dance troupe or singer famous to the area. We we will ensure that we capture these features in exciting and unexpected ways. After all, your destination wedding is a vacation for you and your guests. May as well get some beautiful vacation photos out of the deal!
Booking Our Destination Photography Studio
In short, there are no limits to our creative destination wedding photography. Whether your wedding will be a nearby retreat or an exotic location, we have a solution to match. As soon as you know the early details, we recommend contacting our studio. This way, we can reserve one or more experienced photographers for your date of choice. We can also start talking through the logistics early! Destination weddings need extra planning when it comes to the photography. So please give us as much advance notice as possible.
One more thing is that we offer destination wedding videography, along with photography. So if you are planning to have a videographer, be sure to mention this. You will likely save on a package with us, as opposed to booking a different videography company.
We look forward to talking through the details of your destination wedding photography. Please contact our studio at your earliest convenience. Passports ready!
